I voted for the B-17 first but the Ju-87 would be second. However since this is like asking what one would do if winning the lotto, here is my bigger wish list.  UK, US and even the Graf Zeppelin aircraft carriers with all the right planes to operate off them. Plus, better and more targets at sea. How about the Tirpitz in Norway, The Scharnhorst in Brest, KGV, Warspite, Ark Royal etc in Scapa. Thanks to Ground Crew for the Koln and T-boats. Can't wait for more ships to target. Thankfully the A-26 has brought a 2-torpedo load-out for the allies. Now, we need ship targets that will require 2 hits to go down. We all know our wingmen never can figure out we want them to hit the cruiser.

i'm a 3d modeller and would like to make a few extra planes for CFS3, but have no idea how to export models from 3ds max 4 to CFS3...

is there a SDK or similar i need to do it? is there anywhere on the web that will give me all the info i need at one site?

also, what is the typical number of polygons allowed for a CFS3 aircraft?

(sorry if this has all been answered elsewhere in this forum)

As amg1835 suggests get the aircraft & vehicle SDK at http://microsoftgamesinsider.com/CFSIns ... t.htm?nc=1

Get Gmax at http://www.discreet.com/products/gmax/

And yes, you can export 3dsmax4.2 scenes in 3ds format
to Gmax as it comes with native 3ds, PRJ and DXF import

The SDK suggests 7000 poligons for the LOD_100 model, but you can go way above that.
The average faces count on any addond I have used so far is around 24000 faces in the master model and they all work fine without noticeable fps drops.
CFS3 is renderer

thanks for the replies, i'm downloading the sdk as i type. i'll then grab gmax, but first i want to make sure i can't export it straight from max4 - gmax looks very cut-down and i work in max4 day in day out so there's no learning curve... ;)

i'd like to get together the aircraft from the BoB era, so i can pot a few heinkels and dorniers, and throw a stuka party or two

my workload's pretty heavy at the moment, but hopefully i can make a few of these before CFS4 is out...

Yup, no NURBS and the like in Gmax and currently no way to import straight away from Max to CFS3.
however, porting over to Gmax works ok except names cannot be longer than 8 characters due to 3ds format limitations, materials need redo in the editor, and smoothing groups will be reset to whatever angle you define in the import window. Texture mappings and animations remain intact though.

but with a full buff, i think i can finally destroy the damn V1 sites!

The V-1 sites are virtually impossible to hit! But I think it will spoil the game if we stard putting modern jets in it  :-/ jets really spoiled CFS2 multiplayer (I can't stand restricted because I can't fly the P-39 and there is always an idiot in an F-22 in my multiplayer games)
