I have finally done it! i beat CFS3 as an allied pilot. It was always so easy as the Germans to march right into Allied terretory but as an allied pilot this was much more difficult.
Here is what i did for those of you who are having similar troubles.
1. Start with a few ship attacks until an invasion begins along the french coast.
2. Once the beach head is established concentrate your missions primarily on the Close Air Support Roles and secondarily on factory busting. These types of missions seem to have the most direct impact on the campaign, it seems microsoft really wants to stress the idea of supporting large ground operations.
3. Launch ground offensives only when things start to get depserate. I managed to only fly 37 missions to beat the axis and used only 2 ground offensives niehter of which lasted more than 3 or 4 days each.
4. I did occasionally set the time frame of the campaigne to 1024 speed for a few minutes to get a feel for how the ground war was going and what areas needed to be concentrated on most.
5. Try like heck to concentrate all of your attacks in areas which will lead to the capture of not only the white victory location boxes but ESPECIALLY the green production center boxes. The more production centers you capture the harder it gets for Germany to defend it's territory.
Hope these tips work for you guys who have expressed trouble in the area of winning as an allied pilot.
and remember Fighter sweeps, Bridge busting, Taking out ammo depots and ships is fun but Close air support and seeing that the victory locations and production centers are captured is the only way to win.
i only regret that i never seemed to run across enemy fighters, finishing off the campaign with over 1050 ground kills but only 7 air kills... sure would be nice to have more little swastikas painted on the side of my spitfire.
good luck
