Bomber Formations Are Too Wide

Does it bother anyone else that the bomber (Ju-88, B-25, B-26) formations in the game are too spread out?  You see pictures of them from old war footage, and they are flying in close formation, stacked roughly 25-50 yards vertically and wingtip to wingtip (or less).  As a result, if you mess with one, you mess with them all--you get guns from more than one plane shooting back, creating quite a wall of lead.

In CFS3, however, the plane are roughly 150 yards apart or more.  I believe the AI can't hold formation tighter than this.  The end result is that you can attack a bomber and draw fire from only that one, and not his buddies.  You only draw fire from them if you continue flying past your target and into the range of their guns.
