Playing FSX Online

Hi all.  I'm new to the Microsoft Flight Simulator world, and loving it!

I've been playing combat flight sims for the last 15 years.  I just bought FSX about a month ago.

I have a few questions:

-Are there any groups I can join that fly military missions?  Or is that a Combat Flight sim thing?  I thought I read somewhere on a forum that there are groups who fly combat missions online with FSX?

-What are virtual airlines, and how do they work.

-This is kind of related to my first question:  are there military planes with usable weapon systems availabel for FSX.  (I've downloaded an F-84, but it has no usable weaponry that I know of.

-Also where is a good source for downloading free quality aircraft.  I've downloaded several from simaviation, but only the F-84 looks and flys good.

Thanks in advance all!

Welcome to Simviation
As for groups that fly military missions there are some out there. If you go to the VA section of the forum you should see some there. There are all kind of VA's outhere some great some not so great it depends upon what you are looking for? I fly for ACTIVE AIR SOURCE and it has a military division that  involves flying missions using military aircraft. Now mind you none of these are combat type missions but are more along the lines of flying cargo or personal from point to point. if you want check it out at
www.air-source.us
And I hate to break the bad news to you but this is a flight simulator not a combat simulator so while you can find aircraft that can drop bombs and such there are no dog fights. But heck if you want some fun try running a B747 into a cessna in mid air. ;) 8-)
