There will never be an easyjet virtual :(

Postby britannia » Thu Jul 14, 2005 9:18 am

Out of intrest, I sent an email to the easy group to inquire about "Easyjet Virtual".  All I can says is a appreciate the fact that I received a reply from them.

Dear Mr Turner,

I am writing on behalf of easyGroup IP LicensingL td.  easyGroup IP Licensing Ltd owns the intellectual property rights of all the easyGroup companies including easyJet.

I have been forwarded your email dated 13 July 2005 that you sent to easyJet regarding a request to set up an easyJet Virtual Airline.  We do not approve your use of the easyJet name and therefore do not authorise you to set up an easyJet virtual airline.

Wonder if there would be any point in trying to organize flight simmers to not patronize real world airlines that do not allow virtual versions to exist even when asked?

I never understand that.  Id say a virtual version of an airline can better promote it for business.
Cheers,

It's really weird, I know some real world airlines encourage their VA counterparts (i.e. British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and I believe Delta) but others seriously oppose it. Personally, I cannot see the harm in a VA especially if there is no financial gain involved.

...but yeah Britannia that is dissapointing. Even though I rarely fly in Europe, if I had to choose a favorite company EasyJet would be up there, top 3 for sure.

Anyways, keep at it! If you send them enough e-mails and demonstrate you are serious by showing them a highly detailed proposal for the VA...that might work

Basically the reason in my view is that the airlines can't control the VA's... Let's say you would join a Easyjet VA and all goes well...But if later things don't go well and you get kicked ou for some reason..Being kicked isn't good for you and nasty...Whenever you hear the name Easyjet you are associating it maybe unknowingly with a bad experience. This can lead to a drop in passengers for Easyjet... This is just an easy explanation but I think that's why they won't allow it..

^ Flightsimmers are in a minority, at least the ones that take it serious enough to join a VA. So I'm am sure EasyJet's concern isn't with a few pissed off simmers that had a "bad" experience...

...I believe it's more a question of company image and finances...

But like I said before, keep tryin'. Let them know what exactly VA's are and what you plan to do w/ the company name and logo.

American Airlines also doesn't like people flying around in there livery in FS...as mentioned, you think it would help promote business, but I guess there is a downside to everything.

Really, American doesn't doesn't support AVA? Seems odd, that whole intro video AVA has is littered w/ real American commercial clips...the stuff you probably can only get from American. I forgot to add Austrian Virtual, Brussels Airlines, and Sabena. They are all supported, or at least have official permission from their real world counterparts.

That's a pity. Easyjet operates to Inverness. I love their colourful paint scheme.

Its doesnt matter. Just start a website using free website hosting. Untracable. ;)

Ps: Not that Ive done it miself but stuff like that makes me mad. Thats like parking your plane in the ramp and putting a "dont look" poster on it.

i'd use the opposite aproach:
contact airlines if they are interested in helping their virtual counterpart off the ground with pictures of their planes, flight scedules, logs, procedures....
the reasonable man adjusts to his souroundings, while the unreasonable man insists on adjusting his souroundings to him.

therefore all progress is due to the unreasonable man.

^ True but I think United Virtual or whatever the hell they called themselves were forced to make some pretty dramatic changes because of copyrighting

Oh, by the way you can create an EasyJet Virtual Airlines you'll just have to name it....EasyJet Virtual Airlines ;D or EasyJet Virtual, whatever you want I guess, but you get the point. I'm not exactly sure if you can us the company logo on your website but I am pretty sure you can distribute EasyJet repaint for your fleet without breaking any law. So, go for it I guess
