The Death of a virtual Airline

Postby garymbuska » Fri Apr 29, 2005 10:01 am

As I write this one of the best VA'S ever to be on the web is in a state of self destruction. The owner has seen to it to fire just about every one on the staff. I would recomend no one to join this VA at this time. I was a Hub Manager and Pilot for them but I am very close to leaving for good. I hate to see this happen to what used to be a great VA but if the owner wants to do this it is his site but there are a lot of great people with out a VA to fly for right now I hope I run into some of them in the future. I just wanted to say good bye to a once great VA.

I would like to echo Gary. I am was a pilot there too. I was a Hub Manager and a test pilot as well as holding two other small roles. The CEO (who owns it) fired all the upper management who had dedicated hundreds of hours of free service for him for years. They knew him persoanlly and he is on  tour of the world at the moment and had even been staying with some of them. Many had given money to help pay for the running costs and it was all counted as nothing.

Then with no reason at all, he fired them all (In number about 12) the upper management. Then he decided after the uproar following to fire everyone else. Many resigned in protest before he could, me included, and so far more than 40 pilots have left. Although the airline says it has 840 active pilots, in reality the ones that left probably did half the flying.
It has been very upsetting. Livewire Airlines is by far the most advanced VA on the web, but the events of late aught to cause people to shun it.

I am afraid it isn't. It is in utter tumoil and the very best people of the airline have pulled out. COO's, Regional Directors, some of the Hub Managers, test pilots, flight designers, aircraft engineers, and many others who held other offices... >:(
