Contacting Contributors

Hello everybody,

I'm currently starting up a VA and we need fleet downloads to be available.  However I obviously need the developers permission first before I can package their work and make it my own download.

Several downloads here at Simviation are exactly what I'm looking for in the fleet aircraft, and I would like to know how to come in contact with the people who uploaded them.  All I have are usernames, and that hasn't gotten me anywhere.

If somebody could help me out with this it would be appreciated,

What you need to do is download those aircraft and consult the readme files or enclosed documentation which should have all necessary contact information for the author(s). Not every file here is uploaded by the original author, and you should probably investigate the addon anyway, rather than just pulling up a webpage and saying "that looks good enough".

So far I've been able to contact all of the developers/contributors except for one.

There is an addon in the FSX and FS2004 helicopter section, the SA315B LAMA, that was designed and uploaded by the Swiss Helicopter Design Group.  Unfortunatley they are no longer an active company and have made the transition to the Helicosim company, which sells payware versions of the same aircrafts.

Does anybody know how I might get into contact with anybody from the SHDG or if I would still have to ask permission as they are nolonger active?

Well if they are now rebranded as the "Helicosim" company, and makes upgraded versions of that aircraft, just contact that company.

Sorry to bring back this thread, but does anybody know who has the current rights to the "GMAX Alouette III".

That's the only name given, the readme gives no email, name, or anything.

All of the Alouette III's that I have come across in our file library were created by Mr. Alan Devins. Unfortunately, the flight simulator community, including those on FS helicopter megasite Hovercontrol.com, have lost contact with Mr. Devins for a number of years now.

I do not have legal expertise, but with the above in mind, I imagine that as long as you very specifically credit Mr. Devins for the creation of the original model, you can repaint the helicopter and use it as you see fit. If you could provide a link in this thread for me to absolutely confirm that this is the correct Alouette III in question, I would appreciate it.



P.S. Just out of curiosity, what inspired you to choose the Alouette over some of Aerospatiale/Eurocopter's faster models, such as the AS365 or EC120 for example?

The VA that I'm helping design is based off of a real world helicopter and small fixed wing aircraft operator that uses the Alouette III.  We also encorporate the newer AS350B3, EC130B4, and EC120B.

I must say that of all the aircraft in our fleet, the PC-6 and AIII were the hardest to work with.  It took us 2 months to find a PC-6 model!

Thanks for the link. As it says in the description on the SimV page, this model was created by Alan Devins, so you can probably just follow the guidance I gave you in the previous post.
