Before I panic...

Postby Rich H » Tue Dec 22, 2009 8:35 am

How do I join the Simviation multiplayer? I really need to get this sorted for our upcoming airshow, but how do I join it?
Thanks.  ;)

Paul.... ;D... ;D.... ;D...!

FS 2004 Multiplayer can be instantly joined via the Sim Drop-down Menu.... :-*...!

FSX is more complicated....(Which is why I don't use my FSX for Multiplayer).

i dont know what kind of router you have, or if you even have one, but if you do, somewhere in your Router Configutaion there should be something called "DMZ HOST". That will allow the correct ports to open automattically without you actually having to go though the UDP and TDP connections 1 at a time

Are you using a Router?....

...or just a simple, problem-free, ADSL USB Wired Modem with no Router...(Like I use!.. ;)...)...?

Install and run this program...FS Port Test...>>>

Nope.  And see the stickies at the top of this forum section.

It must be nice having the only computer in your house.  ::)   ;)

We're running 3 here, so a router is mandatory, and in all fairness, it's a hell of a lot easier setting the router ports to be open than it is to do the Windows firewall ports, a lot quicker too.   ;)

Following the stickies above, you can have a router ready in less than 5 minutes, doing the Windows firewall takes almost an hour, if you stay on it until it's done. Opening over 100 ports takes some time.

Even though FSX uses only one port normally, they left the port coding from FS2002 - FS9 in, and just like those two sims, FSX can jump ports at any time it wants, and cause total chaos for all online, so make sure that you don't be lazy and open ALL of the ports.  ;)

Some time ago, my latest Broadband Supplier gave me a free Modem/Router when I joined them, (my previous Broadband Supplier gave me a simple Wired Modem for free, which worked fine), but after days/weeks of trying to get access to the new Router ports, and even spending God knows how much money on purchasing the "Port Forwarding" program, there was nothing I, or the Port Forwarding program, could do to get access to any of the Ports on the Router to open them!
The result was that I finally gave up, and purchased the simple Zoom Modem which you see in the photo, and being the only Soul in my household with access to my computer... :P...I have no Port problems...
...and running the "FS Port Test" before and during the Multiplayer Sessions shows every one of the 100+ Ports to be "OK"... ;)...!

I often wonder, for someone who is REALLY stuck with Router Port problems, to be able to swap over their regular external Modem/Router for a simple wired USB Modem to phone line, just for the duration of the Multiplayer Flight?

(The connection details are stored within each Modem after initial installation).....plug and play?

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004/FSX....and no other annoying computer users!... 8-)...!

Yup... THAT is the issue.  One port at a time!  Absolutely absurd that you can't do a "block" of numbers in one go.
