Do I need a virus proggy if I don't surf?

I have often wondered this..

If you fly on line = then there can't be any virus infection possible - as nothing is being down loaded = and also no server will allow itself to be infected - right?

All emails go through hotmail which checks for viruses automatically - right?

The little surfing I do is only to reputable sites - right?

So - Durh  - I don't need a virus scanner !!

Well - I tried this for a month - and true : nothing bad happened. Theory works! Then my nerve gave in and I re-installed AVAST.

So is this virus thing a hoax? I have never in my life had a virus attack -

It could slow up the computer - so shall I take the scanner off off again?

The virus threat is not a hoax.

Thank you, sir : so I can switch it all off when I fly. To be honest  - I really don't think AVAST virus scanner slows down the FSX that much at all. Just I wondered.

I think all the virus problems were started by the people who make the Anti-virus software.

Create a need and fill the need. 8-) ;)

Having said that, I won't go near the web without one.

I've only ever gotten one, but it was bad enough to force me to do a complete system reinstall.

Never again. ;)
