FlyFS - Korean War Dogfight This Sunday (Jan 18)

Postby Tomcatboy48237 » Wed Jan 14, 2009 10:59 pm

We have taken a break from events for a little while but are starting to yearn for them again.  Our next event will be a Korean War era dogfight. The plan right now is to have a straight air to air engagement over the skies of Korea. The US side gets Sabres, and the North Korean side gets MiG-15s. Links will be posted here shortly. I don't know what time everyone is available so post here if you're interested and we can work that out.

Everyone will need a screenshot program (they are easy to find and free) to record their kills. To score a kill you must get a screenshot showing the other player in your hud/gunsight with their tag showing a distance of 0.3nm or less. Head to head shots don't count. Once you are sure you have a kill, you'll have to announce it on Teamspeak or in the chat box. If there are only a few people maybe we will allow some regeneration. Each team can have one FSNav in the session to give directions to your teammates.

This fight will take place on the FlyFS server, IP FlyFS.hopto.org for both FS and TS.

So far we have:

US
Airshow4444
Slick (pending)
Gunti
Buckeye

North Korea
MOD
Tomcat
Bear

Post here to join!

Just to give everyone an idea of what counts as a kill, here is a kill shot from last night.  We were testing the aircraft to make sure they are an even match.

Here are the aircraft of choice for this mission.  Download links will be provided soon!

No need to sign up anymore, we have enough people so if you show up we'll work you onto a team.  The fighting starts today at 3pm EST.

Just so everyone knows, here is the plan for this afternoon.

The North Koreans (the winners) will base out of Wonju airfield, RKNW.  The US/losers will base out of Cheongwon Airbase, RKTI.  We'll take off at the same time and meet in the middle somewhere.  They're 25 miles apart so you won't be visible until well after takeoff.  When you are killed, you can regenerate by returning to your base and performing a touch and go.  Once you're off the ground you're alive again and can rejoin the fight.  Eventually we'll just call no regeneration and let everyone fight to the death.  The winner will be decided by total kills, so keep your screenshots and keep track of who you killed.

Here's the link to the Sabre (it's the standard Kirk Olsson package, most of you won't need it):
