I have a router. :o

I am setting it up as best I could but if there are any problems with disconnects this Saturday's tours please forgive me. If the moment I see a person having difficulty logging into multiplayer I'll log out and let you all fly without problems.

i am testing stuff with it now.

This is just a notice to all fellow multiplayer fans that are on my tours. ;)

The dreaded Router... >:(...!

For many, many years I have been flying on various Multiplayer Servers with the aid of my simple USB Plug and Play ADSL Wired Thomson Modem....
...with NO ROUTER..and no Port problems.

I recently changed my Service Provider, who supplied me with the usual FREE Modem....A SmartAX MT 882 ADSL Ethernet/USB Wired Modem/Router
...unfortunately is had a built-in Router, and try as I might for days, I could find no way to "enable" the elusive Ports via the internal software, which therefore prevented me from joining in any Multiplayer activities!

so...

To cure these problems, I dumped the Modem/Router in a hole in my Garden, and rushed round to my local Computer Retailer and purchased a simple, cheap (

I use a router its just a matter of getting the ports setup correctly, which can be a process that can take longer than repainting the Golden Gate Bridge. :P

...Of course mine still doesn't work for all on-line games so must switch the ethernet cable from my computer into by modem, therefore bypassing the router. :)

I have tested the router with COD4 and it works fine. So that's one program down. ;)

Only one million more to go... :P

...I noticed most games that use GameSpy don't work with my router, like BF2, FSX (works fine through FSHost though).

I spent ages trying to open the ports in my new MT 882 Router by examining the Routers internal Software*, but nothing in the programme indicated where to enter the Port addresses that required opening!!

To try and resolve the Port Forwarding in my SmartAX MT882 combined Modem/Router, I downloaded the following program and paid

I run a Linksys WRT54G v6 router and a Linksys Wireless Buddy N (adapter ;)) and I get a ping of 200-350. All depends on your ISP really. Routers do too but not nearly as much. AT&T [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I dumped my troublesome Smart MT 882 Router 3 Hours 2 minutes after installing it, and replaced it with a simple, straight-forward, bog-standard, Zoom Wired Modem (
