Well that's interesting...

I note that your calculations utilise Kilometers instead of Miles, and Liters Litres instead of Gallons...

Is this usual practice in Australia?.... ::)...!

Paul....(England).....(Miles and Gallons).... ;)...!

A good place for an Altimeter is on the instrument panel in front of you....
...rather than in your socks...;)...!

...LOL... ;D...!

Paul....(Uses Queen Victoria measurements)..... ;D...!

...still curious if Australia, (and New Zealand), uses Metric measurements, rather than Imperial measurements?..... ::)...?

AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND USE METRIC SYSTEM!

Just thought i would clear that up Fozzer ;D

That is technically true for the UK. However, there are still lots of exceptions.* For example; beer & milk is still sold by the pint (I think there would be rioting on the streets if they tried to change that) & distances are measured in Imperial miles. Speed is measured in MPH & many people also use feet & inches rather than metres. There is a lobby pressing for this to be changed in time for the 2012 Olympics. More expense & confusion. I can't imagine how much it would cost to change every road sign in the country. They'll be wanting us to drive on the wrong side of the road next. ::)

*I had a search round & this is apparently the case for Australia & New Zealand. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metrication_in_Australia

Thank goodness, Doug...

There's still hope for we Imperialists yet...>>>>

Quote:
Despite metrication being a success a few remnant aspects of Australian life have remained imperial. For example, after a short period in which hardware stores were required by law to sell metric bolts, a relaxation of the law allowed for pre-metric fasteners to be sold as well. Currently, both Whitworth and metric nuts and bolts are readily available, but Whitworth bolts are stocked in a greater range of sizes.

In many cases imperial units continue to be commonly used in spoken and sometimes written form. Examples include reference to a newborn baby's weight in pounds (lbs). Occasionaly, land areas are quoted in acres and a person's height is measured in feet and inches.
End Quote.

Long Live the memory of good Queen Vic... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!

Paul...Measuring the Marigolds, in Feet and Inches... ;D...!

Scotland is switching to driving on the right if they get independance. It'll be done over a two week period starting with trucks and buses the first week and cars etc the second. ;)
