I'll be there. Flying a Cessna 182 for the 136 nm. Do it in a King Air and you'll finish in 40 minutes.......

Crash ;)

Looks like a job for my trusty default Beech Baron 58D again, (cruising on reduced power...;)...).

From previous experience in the Rockies, I found I needed it to be able to climb very quickly, (2,000+ FPM), to clear the mountains after leaving the Airstrips, also, because of high altitudes* and thin air, lots of excess power, (turbo-charged?), was required... :o...!

Looking interesting though...;)...!

Paul...Home in the Rockies... 8-)...!

FS Navigator Flight Plan on the go...;)...!

* have you noticed: 17,500 feet ASL...Carburettors freezing cold and gasping for air... :o...LOL...!

Crackey, mighty central USA seems as inhospitable as ozyland, and not as detailed in G.Earth as UK is.

My FS Navigator Flight Plan is based on a1's ICAO airport list as follows, which now appears to be identical to Luke's:

Start.
KLXV Lake Co.
2CO2 Cmrs Airdrome.
32CO Braun.
36CO Fat Chance.
End.

Note: KLXV Lake Co is at 11,000 feet ASL, so don't forget to weaken the Mixture to just before weak cut-off to obtain the maximum power... :o...!!

Worked fine with the Baron..;)...!

Paul... 8-)...!

Note: I have both VOZ (Northern Region), and FS Global installed in FS 2004.

The original one was under the heading:

"A Wild Goose Chase"

A favourite past-time of the Locals in the Rocky Mountains....apparently... ::)...!

Paul...Warming his Carburettor in front of the fire... 8-)...!

Just might make it to this 'un... Better preflight the default Baron (then switch to the Twin Bonanza after startup- ;) )

Here's a low-res look at the Denver sectional, showing the route:

Couldn't even find Cmr's there; maybe it's closed now(the defunct unpaved strip shown?)... but it's close enough to Alexander to use that as a waypoint.
Don't be fooled by the relatively flat terrain... note the quadrant MEA numbers... they don't call it the High Plains for nothin' !

I tried one of the lovely Twin Bonanza's in my Hangar, but I found them considerably slower and under-powered compared to my Beech Baron 58...(especially the Turbo-Charged model)... ::)...?

I wonder why...?

Paul....Baron Fozz....Weakening his Mixture.... 8-)...!

No, you're right... need the turbocharger. Maybe I'll use the Cessna 310, but it's not the best choice for short grass strips high in the mountains... hmmm...
