Opening ports?

To connect to the simV multiplayer server it says i have to open certain ports. The tutorial provided is aimed mainly at use with routers. As i dont have a router (i have a dsl connection) do i still have to open these ports? If so please could someone help me! I have flown on many multiplayer servers and have had no problems but when i try to fly on the SimV one there is never anyone online. Is this because i dont have the correct ports open??
Thanks in advance for any help.

no, thats only beacuse you gotta be lucky to catch someone. Also stay onlike for atleadt 20 min and someone should pop on eventually

The only way you will be able to really tell if your ports arent open is if someone (or yourself) gets booted from the server.

I am one of the few lucky Bunnies...;)... who have neither a Router, or Service Pack 2, installed on my computer, so I don't have problems with "Ports", "Firewalls", etc....  ;D...!

I just "connect" and off I go....no problemo....every time....sorted... ;D...!

These bleedin' "Routers" seem to cause more trouble than they are worth, in on-line "games"..... >:(...!

...surely it is possible to remove them (Routers) for the duration of the Game/Multiplayer Flight, to avoid the conflicts...?

Cheers all...!

Paul.....with trouble-free-ports...(my colostomy bag is very efficient)....;D...!

To check if there is anyone flying on the Sim V Server, have a browse here first...>>>

http://cockpit.netfrag.org:8090/

If there is no one there, then there is no one flying on the Server...
If there is, then you have all the details you need...
....sorted...;)... ;D...!
