!!Newsflash!!    !!Newsflash!!   !!Newsflash!!   !!Newsflash!!   !!Newsflash!!

Dave "Fly2e" 's Marmalade Is Gone!!

Eyewitnesses say that a fleet of 5 or 6 helicopters were seen carrying large tubs of "gooey orange stuff".
Experts predict the bandits are still somewhere on Manhattan - seekers are required to find the bandits before sundown!!

Your objective: Seek the 5 or 6 hidden choppers in Manhattan!!

Rules for players

The hunt will be held on Saturday 27th May, 6PM UK local time.

There will be 5-6 default helicopters hidden around Manhattan. The hiding pilots will be Clipper, Theis, BAW0343, possibly Krigl, Mictheslik and myself.

When the seekers arrive on the server, please go to CGAS, or "Brooklyn CGAS". The seekers must also turn off multiplayer and AI tags - this is done by pressing "Cntrl+Shift+L".

The hidden Choppers will stay hidden in the same spot - once you find a spot to hide at, stay there!!

The seekers are allowed to fly either default Bell Jet Rangers or default Cessna 172's (for those who aren't confident at flying helicopters ;)) - only the 2 default aircraft, with no add-ons or config edits of any kind, are allowed.

The area that is being searched is restricted to Manhattan island.

When you find a hidden chopper, take a screenshot of it as proof. Then, when you think you have a screenshot of all hidden choppers, get ready to post your pics on the MP forum at SimV - we ask that everyone just posts the number of hidden aircraft they've photographed in the game on MP Forum after the event to officially log their time, then post the pics within an hour or two to verify their claim of no. of aircraft photographed.

The game will last for 1 hour, so the ending time will be about 7PM UK local time.

For all players (hiders and seekers), please set your sim's start time to June 12th 2007 at 6:00 pm EDT or midnight GMT.

No third party TACAS system,  AIBridge, FSNavigator  or radar of any kind is allowed.

Although some people's computers may struggle, it is essential that everyone sets their graphics to the following to keep the game fair:

Crash detection: Off
Weather: Off
Autogen: Very dense
Terrain mesh complexity: Minimum 60
Scenery complexity: Very Dense
Dynamic scenery: Checked and set to Very Dense
Global max texture size: High
(Remember, you can always turn the textures and/or resolution down to optimise performance ;))

Also, remember to turn off any add-on sceneries for the area.

No slewing or map moving

The hidden choppers will not be on the ground but on buildings, bridges etc.

See You On Saturday!

Forget about me why don't you!! ;) ;)

Also to add, turn off add-on scenery for New York such as terrain meshes. During the practise I appeared lower to everyone else than I actually was.

EDIT: I just noticed you have!!! Must have missed that.

Have fun

.Mic

PS you couldn't possibly add an M to your CCKT could you?

Sounds damn fun 8)

And you've caught it right at a time where I don't have an exam for over a week :D

Just one thing...

Those people with slower connections (I wouldn't say I was one of them, but for their benefit...), won't it take them longer to upload and post the screenshots? Not to mention the time taken to resize the shots, and compress them... It would take me a good 5 minutes to get everything posted, if I hurried, even on 2mb broadband (which will still be slower than those with 8mb+!).

cspyro21,

Fun idea........ but what is Dave doing with half of Ozzy's marmelade supply?   ;D

Another "RULE" here should be the use of any thrid party TACAS system or "radar" should not be allowed either.  With something like AIBridge you can pick up the other multiplayer aircraft and see them on any gauge that can see AI flying in the regular sim.  With FSUIPC you can adjust things to see aircraft on the ground too.  Also FSNav and FSCommander have TACAS radars on multi=player built right into them.  I am sure their are other add-ons that do this too.

Otherwise this is like shooting monkeys in a barrel.  ;)

best,

.....................john

Id love to participate, especially since ive gotten down heli flying.

BTW clip, that red box isnt manhattan island.  Manhattan is the island that the center of nyc is on, get over central park, do top down and zoom out a little and youll see the island.  What you have boxed is most of Long Island

Excuse the small glitches, we rushed out the post to give everyone the most time possible to clear their schedules. We'll modify the post a bit in the next short while. Thanks everyone for your help.  :)

This is more of a game of honesty than of actual skill...heck, we would never know if someone turned on labels... ::) ;)
