how to: visible planes/paints in vatsim

hello all,

so, a group of friends want to start our own virtual airline, and would make our own planes, paintjobs, etc.

Problem is, in vatsim, all we see is that ugly paperplane.

What are we supposed to do to allow others to see our planes, with our colors as well?

Thanks

Hector

Each player has to have the same model and same set of texures referenced the same way.

That part of the aircraft.cfg file where "ui" stuff is has to be the same and the texture folders (obviously) have to be named the same.

If you're flying different planes (you a 737 and he a A320).. you each have to have both those models in your aircraft folder to see each other's planes.

that is why im asking here, because we both have the same plane, using the same texture, stored in the same folder....yet all we see is that paper plane.

I thought maybe if I add the model and basic textures to the VIP library?

But then again I wouldnt know what the naming convention is either.

Too cryptic.

Okay Uncle Ozzys simple "see the same plane" trick. First all involved have the same paintjob installed for each of the aircraft (the same model by the same person for each individual).
Secondly you all put the entry in the aircraft.cfg file the same way with the same names.
This is it. Brett gave an excellent (if slightly over-detailed) answer ;)

Actually it allready has been explained above...
Just to give a little detail what makes an aircraft show up.
This is the line in the aircraft.cfg that handles
the appearenace of the planes in multiplayer

title=Beechcraft King Air F90-1

If this is not the same .. the plane will not appear.
The good thing.. if 2 people in a MP Session have different planes.. for example .. One is flying the RAS Spitfire while another one only has a freeware Spit... both can set the title value to something like "title=Spitfire temp" for example. Like this the other player will be shown in the Spitfire each user has installed instead of the cessna.
But you
