Sim Alive next Caribbean Tour: Scenery

Postby Fozzer » Wed Feb 08, 2006 8:03 am

Hello fellow tourists.....!

In anticipation of Jimbo's next Sim Alive Tour which will probably be the Caribbean when the Italy Tour is completed, I have anticipated the scenery mesh necessary to cover the area.

It can be found here...>>>

http://www.simviation.com/fsdterrainsrtm.htm

Don't forget to download the "Terrain Map" first to show the area covered.

Three files cover the main area, and they are as follows....>>>
NA 09. 13.8 meg
NA10. 11.7 meg
NA14. 11.5 meg

Create three Folders....Carribean1, Carribean2, Carribean3.
Inside each Folder add another folder called "scenery"
Into each "scenery" folder place the individual xxx.bgl file.
Fire up FS 2004. Go to "Settings" > "Scenery", locate each of your Caribbean folders and click on them to "Add" them.

If you want to cover a larger area for the complete Caribbean islands, add these two files as well...>>>
NA02. 8.5 meg
SA11. 12.4 meg

The files are quite large for dial-up users, (like me), so now maybe the time to add them to your scenery.
If you are a FS Navigator user, when they have been installed, fire up your FSNavDBC program to add them to your GPS map...!!!

Actually...
Even if you are not interested in the Sim Alive Tours, installing this scenery of the area will vastly improve the default scenery of the Caribbean...at no cost...!!!

Cheers all...!
Looking forward to the Caribbean sunshine...!

Paul...a dial-up Bloke...!

That's an excellent scenery file!  Where can I download it?

...now isn't that strange... :o...!

I mostly fly in the Northern hemisphere, (California coastal region), and the waters there appears as dark blue.

When I pop down the the Tropics, (Caribbean), the water appears as variations of blue and turquoise, (blue/green), as appears in Jimbo's photographs... ;D...!

In fact my sim water in the Caribbean is exactly the same as Jimbo's photographs... :o...!

Cheers all...;D...!

I cant remember you telling us?

Last time i heard you was doing the caribbean tour, it was months ago..!

I was doing all the planning ahead of time. For example, airports to land at and mapping and all that. But oh well.

I think we should leave well alone...;)...!

Jimbo and Nemo have been successfully running the Sim Alive site for a couple of months now, with always a good turn-out from our side of the "Pond", (...and a few others from the far side of the "Pond"), quite successfully at the GMT times stipulated on the site...>>>

http://simalive.bravehost.com/italy_tour.html

The Caribbean Tour, when it arrives, will be posted on the Sim Alive site, as usual, replacing the Italy Tour....>>>

http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/ ... 1139403814

The "Other side of the Pond" members are catered for with the US flights, at a time to suit them...Eastern Standard Time?... ;)...!

I would not dream of asking Jared to re-arrange the time of his US Tour just to suit me...in the GMT Zone... :o...!

Leave what has worked well so far on the Sim Alive (UK) Site, alone... ;)...!

Please...!

Paul... 8)...!

P.S. To save any arguments over Time Zones, let our US Members organise a Caribbean tour of their own, (which Iceland appears to be doing), at times to suit them... ;)...!
Problem solved... ;D...!

Actually I think the concept of running two different tours, one for each side of the pond, is a damned good idea!  That way you don't have to worry about half the pilots being in the wrong timezone or getting up to fly at 3am on a weekday.  You might even fly the same route but in different directions, one clockwise and the other anticlockwise, passing each other at the halfway point and meeting up again at the end of the tour.
