Slow race?

Postby gryshnak » Mon Dec 26, 2005 11:56 am

Anyone interested in a slow race?  That's like a normal race, but using slow old biplanes like this one.

I figure a simple point-to-point race, perhaps one T&G along the way, about 20-30 minutes flying time, just for a bit of fun.

Any takers?

about 20-30 minutes flying time

Looking at the plane, the 'point to point' race would be from one end of the runway to the other ;D ;D

Point to point races usually turn out very boring IMO - you take off, hit full throttle, & whoever took off first or has the fastest plane wins.

You should set it up at Heathrow or JFK for example & utilise the runways for course markers & t&g's. (Do a few circuits of the airport or something). Just an idea.

(Or maybe a smaller airport to save FPS).

Cheers,

TSC.

My back garden would be a good place for a practice...

...from the bottom of the garden to the top of the garden...
...and back again...

The winner gets a cup of tea and one of Fozzers celebrated hot-dogs... ;)...!

What do you think of that idea...?

Paul...bread rolls...chipolata sausages....English mustard... ;D...!

Hmm, if I could lay out a course and put some sort of markers on the ground, that would be something to consider.

A cross country race with waypoints that must be circled, or T&G's in specified fields?  Those old planes don't have GPS so the pilots would have to navigate by following roads and canals.

I'm convinced there's potential here, I've just got to find the best way of using it.
