The "Not all players able to connect" message is caused by one player not having the required Direct X. Most servers now require DX9 ....... so if your pal only has DX8 then this will cause the error message.

As John said ....... the jumping is due to data transfer differences.

Animations ....... some show ....... some don't ..... its just the way it is.

To warp quickly to another player ... ctrl+shift +i ( could be t it's late and I'm tired) to bring up the players name.... then Ctrl+Shift+f to warp to them. Other than that I don't remember seeing anything about following another player.

Another thing that you have to keep in mind when it comes to FS9 multiplayer are video card settings.  When connecting to a multiplayer session, you should always make sure your target frame rate is as low as you are comfortable with.  Personally, I don't set mine over 25 fps.

This is due to a little bug in which FS9 sends data to other players.  It sends it at the same rate as your fps.  If your video card absolutely rocks at 95 fps, think of the data you are pumping into the multiplayer session! :o  You could easily create a situation where too much data can actually cause some of the animations and position updates to be jerky.
