Planes jumping around when playing multiplayer...

I've been playing my bro w/multiplayer the last few days for the first time. We both have good connections (DSL and Cable), but the planes jump around horribly in the air.

Is there anything I can do to keep this from happening? Neither of us have installed any updates to FS 2004 at this point... would that help?

I haven't seen twitching this bad since FS 95 multiplayer on my dial-up connection YEARS ago. Also, for what its worth, other online games work flawlessly (half-life 2, etc.).

Nope theres nothing  you can do except shut down any background stuff on each comp. Anything else is down the the connection.

I'll try that out. The only thing I can think of is we were both running Skype (voice chat) at the time.

Is it normal to see some twitching? It would be nice to fly formations, etc., but its going to be impossible to do if this is occurring.

The twitching is quite normal unfortunately. However if you can trim the aircraft to level flight and quite slow the other should be able to get alongside for some nice pics ;)

10_g's,

Go to one of the broadband throughput test sites and test the actual download AND upload speeds of your "high speed" connections.

I'm thinking that the Skype program is probably slowing you down the most, I have the same problem when I use teamspeak...not problems any other time...

try not talking on it when you are trying to get real close for pictures etc....
