Need some Multiplayer help

Postby Kimchoc » Wed Jul 21, 2004 2:15 pm

1st question, can a Fs2004 client connect to a Fs2002 host?
2nd, is there a patch for FS2002?

Ok, now on to my problem.  I have a computer set up on my Linksys wireless network that is a DMZ host.   I host games on this computer, Ghost Recon, BF1942, Teamspeak, RW etc.   From MY client, I connect to the internet IP address, thus joining all my buddies..
I installed FS2002 this AM and tried to connect with my Fs2004.  Nothing returned in search results with the IP address.  Tried the lan IP with no results either.  I qualified my server by having a buddie hook up with BF Vietnam.  No problems.  Also, FSspy doesnt show the game.  From my host computer, I connected successfully to another FS host.   So again, the computer is qualified.  But no connect and no show for any hosting.

Any ideas fellas?  thanks in advance....

If I read right ... you are using FSHost ... and FSHostSpy?

If so then you need to ensure that FSHost is set up to accept connections from both FS2002 and FS9.
FS2002 also opens different ports than FS9 so that could be the problem.

Required Ports for FS2002
UDP 47624
TCP and UDP 2300 to 2400

Required Ports for FS2004
UDP 23456
UDP 6073

And if i remember rightly Port 80 for FSHostSpy.

I don't know if thats helped but off the top of my head just before going to bed  it's about all I can think of ... I'll keep pndering though.

cheers

Thank you my friend. But I thoguht that when set as a DMZ host , ALL ports are open and available???  So that should take care  of the ports.
Yes, i tried to use FSHost but it says port 80 cant be reaced by FShost.  Still confused as to why ANY port is not open when setup as DMZ.
Before a call to Linksys, i wanted to find out why FS2002 seems to be different than any other MP game I have tried to run on this computer.  If anyone knew....thanks..

Well, it works now.  Not REALLY sure what happened but I used FShost and made the port 80 another port number.  Read that over on the Fshost boards.  I sort of guessed at the new port number.  Dont know if this did it or not cause I dont understand it, but anyway, it works.  Maybe this tidbit will help someone else.
Had a friend connect , so it surely works. Thanks for your replies... ;D
