Hi all

I have a problem when I want to play a multiplayer game. When I play on zone.com I get an error message, it says: error connecting lobby ???

When I want to play a lan game the game crashes when the game starts >:(

Maybe my router is the problem? can someone help me out??

Hi Snake (love your avatar ;)) with the router you have to open up one of the ports either 80 or 88 I think (its been a while since I did an MP session).
You also need to turn off your firewall if you're using XP with the built-in firewall. It interferes for some reason that no-one at M$ can explain :P

~S~

A lot of my squad mates get this - I do too at times, though now it seems more likely to occur when trying to join dial-up hosted games. My squaddies report that they are less likely to get error messages when joining a game - particulary the dreaded 'Problem finding dp2 inrterface' error - after having re-installed cfs1 (we've recently switched from 1 to 2)

There's some discussion of this issue and the need to configure port/firewall settings as recommended by Ozzy here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/Q285/8/62.ASP&NoWebContent=1

Here is the best site to go to for troubleshooting problems on the Zone, LAN and other game related problems.    http://www.nibblesnbits.tk/    This site will give you details on router and firewall setup for MP sessions.

DP2 Interface errors happen to everyone on the Zone. They can be caused by people jumping in and out of a room while you are trying to join, poor latency to other players in the room and so on. If you get them ALL the time, then usually uninstalling and reinstalling the Zone files will correct this. The site mentioned above gives you details on how to PROPERLY uninstall and reinstall the Zone files. Good Luck
