I've been flying VATSIM for a couple of weeks now, and have found a wealth of fun and information. There are pilots and ATCs of all skill levels. Being a NEWBIE, I made sure I let the ATCs know I needed extra assistance with some things. The only "bad" thing that happened early on was I overshot my ILS and the ATC terminated my flightplan. I think that might have been a little premature, but, considering I was REALLY new then, I would have hope for a little more tolerance.
My point? The zone is fine if you just want to fly multiplayer. I don't think there are any ATCs in the zone, but at VATSIM, you can find plenty there. The ATCs control specific parts of air and ground (Center, Approach, Tower, Ground, Delivery) in every part of the world. If you want to interact with live ATCs, find a spot on the globe that has one and go flying! I downloaded ServInfo that lets me know how many pilots and ATCs are connected and where. Yesterday, I saw about 25 planes flying from Denver to Seattle. It looked like a race or something!
