Time: 20:00 BST (British Summer Time) = 19.00 or 7 pm GMT  = 12.00 PDT (Pacific Daylight Time)

Note that a1 got the date wrong. It's Saturday 6th September.

I still think it would be much easier for everyone if you ALL worked in GMT. Then local time makes no difference at all. That was the idea of GMT in the first place.

Aviation Time

Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is international time, the basis of the world time clock. It helps eliminate confusion across multiple time zones. It is also known as UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). Aviators commonly refer to it as Zulu time.

Aviators use this worldwide, 24-hour time to eliminate confusion about "a.m." and "p.m." and different time zones. It makes time comparisons and conversions easier.

Converting 12-hour to 24-hour time:

   * No difference in morning hours, just precede with a "0" up through the 9 o'clock hour (6 a.m. = 0600).
   * After 12 noon, just add 12 to the hours (3 p.m. = 1500).
   * In either case, minutes follow hours (no colon) (0615, 1530).

Greenwich, England, was chosen as "zero hour" because it is longitude 0 degrees 0 minutes 0 seconds. If you live in the eastern United States, your local time is GMT minus 5 hours (4 hours for daylight-saving time [DST]); if you live in the West, your local time is GMT minus 8 hours (or 7 for DST). So if you're in New York City and it's noon, the Zulu Time is 1700Z (or 1600Z for DST). Because Zulu Time is based on a 24-hour clock, if it's 5 p.m. (DST) in New York City, that would be 2100Z (5 p.m. is 1700 hours, so it's 17 plus 4).

I don't see why that would be a problem. The USA is a huge country. It's the same as dealing with different time zones in Europe or Asia. Before retiring I used to telephone people all over the world with no trouble at all. That's where GMT comes in so handy as it's the same all over the world & never changes.

The Pub is in Hanks Time Zone.
The time on Hank's wall clock is 8 PM.
He has previously arranged to meet Dwayne in the Pub at 8:15 PM

The time on Dwayne's wall clock is 7 PM, 'cos hes in a different Time Zone.

How do they both manage to join each other, at the same time, down at the Pub?

Does poor old Hank always have to get the Beers in an hour before Dwayne arrives each time?... :'(...!
