oh...  well, I had it all thought out, We'd practice as often as possible, work out the bugs, and switch teams every two years ( or so ) But If  the Virtual thunderbirds don't use FS, what do they use?

What does my age have to do with it?
look, If Im twelve, and know how to fly on JUST GAUGES in an F-16, although I've never seen the inside of an F-16 cock pit in real life, I'd think I've got plenty of knowledge to pull this off....

Just cause youve never seen the inside of the cockpit doesent mean anything, otherwise most people here couldnt fly anything ;) also i can land a 747 in fs but ive never even been in one of those.  I could land an ILS, and fly by just gauges when i was 12, been simming 10 years (yes really i have) and i still dont have the skill to do what the Blue Angles, Thunderbirds, or any display group can do, nomatter what sim i am useing.  Really its nothing agaist you, but FS is not capeable of it, lag, time spent on it, and a bunch of other factors make it VERY hard to complete something like this.

Also rember our 2 ship formation that never worked? 2 things,  dont go full throttle, and its not something you can just pull together in a few sessions of mp.

I didnt mean to make an argument out of this so lets just leave it alone  ;)

I'd think I've got plenty of knowledge to pull this off....

Dont get cocky  ::)

Ok im gunna get myself in trouble, ;)

I have never been able to find a frame rate friendly Hornet to where other mulitplayer players around me dont see me glitch and vise versa

There is an AI F/A-18 available... no idea if the required textures are there.

And the FS engine simply doesnt allow close flying, better get LOMAC for that (ever seen the VFTC video?)

Is the main point. If you're lucky enough to have a very stable connection then you may be able to hold something fairly close. I flew with Nemo last weekend and at times it was nigh on impossible...

Also rember our 2 ship formation that never worked? 2 things,  dont go full throttle, and its not something you can just pull together in a few sessions of mp.

Indeed it isn't, and the leader having full power set is a no-no unless he is leading a "tailchase"...

Also, formation flying is one time you don't want to be staring at the gauges - unless you're in cloud... :)

If you had it all thought out, you would have realized that the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels fly what look to be similar routines, they are in fact completely different.  The Thunderbirds show is more power and precision while the Blue Angels (they do show power) is more of a finesse and precision show.  The styles of flying are a bit different too.

I've seen the Blues almost 8 times. I think i know how they do their show.
I've never seen JUST raw Power maneuvers in a Blues show.
I've seen the Birds only once, and nothing but powerful manuevers lined the show program.

ok, fine here we go. This thread is going to get locked soon... BUT here are some snippets of an FAQ that list some requirements

Navy or Marine Corps tactical jet pilot with a minimum of 1,350 flight hours.
Each pilot must complete 120 training flights during winter training in order to perform a public demonstration safely. The teamwork required for the high-speed, low-altitude flying in the tight Blue Angels formation takes hundreds of hours to develop

This is what they say in FAQ so you KNOW this is just general info. There is so much more involved.

You master these, get FS to be smooth over the internet and we will talk.

Now back to real life. Doc, PM me if ya ever wana fly  ;) evryone can use some more flying time. Id love some more  ;D

When you have a father who flew Tomcats off the decks of about 4 different aircraft carriers, and who had thousands of hours of flight time, you will understand the difference.  :P ;D

When I actually have a father who will SIT on the GROUND in a CESSNA without WETTING himself, then I'll know that he may join some form of air defense and fly.
Then I will know how tough it is.
Cheers,
Doc.
