I take it we just unzip these directly into the 'Extra 300' folder?

Program Files -> Micro$oft Games -> Flight Simulator 9 -> Aircraft -> Extra300

Yep, that's it.  The zip file contains all the new textures, and an edited aircraft.cfg.  Unzip it and go see what you were randomly painted with  ;D

My painting technique was pretty basic - I just grabbed the next number off the list, asked myself "What colour haven't I used yet?" and literally flooded the whole bitmap with it!  When I ran out of base colours I put a big stripe across the wings and tail, and ran through the colours again.  You can blame Micro$oft for the mismatched pattern on the ailerons and tail, it all matches on the bitmap (but it does look pretty good like this anyway).

19 repaints in 3 hours, gotta be some sort of record!

I changed my tail-number also, so now I have "MOBIUS" on the side of my airplane too.
