Big LAN Query

Postby Alphajet_Enthusiast » Sun Aug 14, 2005 1:46 am

Here is the deal....
There are two computers, both very new and up to date.
The computers are not linked up to the internet.
The computers are linked in a LAN.
Both pcs have FS2004 installed.

Now.... Can I play multiplayer with someone on the other computer using the LAN connection, and f so, how?

Just wondering.... answers would be thoroughly appreciated...  ;)

Set one as the server as usual ....... for the other comp you just need to give the LAN IP for the server machine.
eg. If the server comp's Network IP is 192.168.1.10 then put that into the other comp's IP box in FS9.

That should do it although I've never tried it.

Thanks Eno  :) I'll give it a shot in a few days when I get into this situation! ;D

PS Is LAN IP the same as the computer IP when on the internet?

Nope, your internal IP address is going to be different... ;)

One way to find out is to pull up the command prompt by clicking start / run....from there type CMD and hit enter... ;)

From this box type ipconfig /all

look for ip address.. ;)

As Jared says ...... use IPConfig on each comp to find its internal IP.
Internal IP's usually start 192.168.*.* you'll need the one from the Host comp to put in the multiplayer connect box on the other comp.
