How do I use multiplayer???

 I know of FS's multiplayer thing but don't know how the heck to use it and if i even have the correct type of connection. Could someone give me some info on how it works, what it is exactly.

Hi Mike,

It's pretty straightforward. You can start MP from in FS by clicking Flights, Multiplayer. You'll get a dialog box prompting you for a name and an IP address. The address is just for finding a specific server (like for a buddy you know who is currently hosting), leave it blank if you want to look for all sessions currently active. Then click Search, and FS looks around for sessions currently out there for you to join. You can also host a session, I have not tried this yet but plan to this AM.

I did not find any just now, odd for a weekend. Maybe I did not give the Search function enough time.

In the past (FS2002), the majority of the sessions I would find specified use of a high speed connect, like DS1. I take it from this that the traditional modem connect may not be so good, although it worked well for me when I used it before except in metro areas (lots of scenery), when framerates took a nosedive.

One of the most popular FS multiplayer options is to use VATSIM, with other pilots from around the world and live ATC. You should check it out if you really want to try multiplayer flying. Once I started, I was hooked, and still am....

As far as I know all you need is a 56kbp internet or higher. I use the zone.msm.com.

I think I damaged my Pc video driver a bit going Multiplayer at MSN Game Zone.

I had windows open and the messenger serivce logged in! I think when someone sent me a IM message it caused a serious crash on the video card. When I corrected the issue I was good to go again.

Do any of you feel I should give this another try or just stay away for my own good!

dont give up! your machine should easily be able to deal with it, and the problem you descibed seems like a one-off at best. I multitaks my machine all the time without any trouble but if you are on a dial-up you might be looking at a bandwidth issue
