56K dial up problems?

Postby Jared » Wed Oct 01, 2003 9:09 am

OK Here's the deal, I'm running a decent computer on 56K dial up, my question is would I be able to connect, and fly a GOOD multiplayer flight? Possibly even in close formation? Or would my connection speed be too slow?

Any ideas/suggestions and/or thought will be appreciated!

I'm no expert, but if I had to guess, I'd say it would be difficult at best.

I've tried formation flying with my broadband (everyone else was on broadband as well), and it was almost impossible..we ended up giving up.

However, none of us really knew what we were doing either, so that probably had a lot to do with it.  lol
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

Jared you can do it, just its a bit jumpy. The best bet is to download FSHost (its here in utilities I think), and setup a session with that and go online with a friend and see how it works out. One thing, try using a friend who has a 56k modem too. I tried using my ISDN connection with someone else on broadband and it led to a few problems. I've overcome most of the issues now.
Set you graphic settings quite low, and you'll get better speed.

Thanks for the info guys.  Maybe one of these days I will have some time to get on-line and go flying with my friends.
