That's why I tell visitors at my site to come here to chat. I don't know diddly squat about managing forums. ;D

phpBB can be set up in half an hour, including upload time. Creating all the different categories, forums, etc, could take about half an hour again.

And really, unless you want to go installing thousands of modpacks, phpBB is quite easy to use.

But, everybody has their preferences.

Is there a link to the YaBB site? and is it free?

*no ads

and preferably free!

Thats VERY hard to find, a quality host and no ads. However i know a host that makes up for haveing some ads, and um, let me find them again...

30 sec later...

Ok I got my favorite one found again  ;D Byethost here are their free packages: http://www.byethost.com/freeplans.php

 Space / Bandwith / Sub-domains / MySql
1. 250MB / 20GB / 20 / 2
2. 150MB / 20GB / 20 / 10
3. 100MB / 30GB / 20 / 2
4. 150MB / 20GB / 1,000,000,000,000,000,0.... / 2

Each is designed for a diffrent use, 1 is for space storage, 2 is for MySql accounts, 3 is for bandwidth, and 4 is for more hosting, get as many sub-domains as you want.

Its a great system and the people who run it are VERY flexible. Last i knew they are willing to give you any extra that you may need if you constantly run out. It may have changed scince then however.  It does have some ads (you wont find a good free host without them) They all have FTP, PHP, File managers. Its a great system check them out  ;)

I did some searching on the first link provided and some of them have this and some extra but you have to post on their forums to continue use, with this all you need to do is use it to keep it  ;D not hard  ;) Alot of the no-add sites require forum posting, thats just silly  ::)

I use awardspace for both my websites and it's pretty good
be aware though that it does have censoring software installed so if you have pages with certain words on it (and nobody is told what the words are) you will get a 403 error
i only had this happen the once though

long story short, i recommend awardspace
