Sorry, but I'm fine here. Alot of people go ahead and make new forums just to be the "ADMIN" and all that. Not to flame or anything, but anyone can just go and make a free forum from some provider.

PS: Whats wrong with this forum?  ;)

^^ What he said!

SimV is everything you have described and more and is run by a very mature and responsible and spitfire-driving admin team.  SimV also has a great base of users with losts of different experiences.

Oddly enough I saw the thread title "nice new forum" so of course I had to check it out to see what was offered and after perusing the various threads, I stumbled across one that well, made me decide to not become a member.

When I came to SIMv last year, I knew absolutely nothing about general simming, other than what I knew from the combat sims I flew. I bought FS9 to try, and looked for a site to call "home". There were no biases here, and 100% of the threads I saw on topic, and maturely represented.

People here welcomed me, like they have done countless times to other new folks, with open arms, and there was not a question they could not answer and more often than not, several choices were offered to help with issues I had with FS9, flying in the sim, and other things. through the combined knowledge of many, I have been able to configure my simulator so that I get the best experience I can and I can only try along the way, to help others as they have me.

There is no better forum than SIMv in my opinion, and I would say that even before I was asked if i would like to become a moderator.

I am truely indebted to everyone at SIMv that has guided me along the way, and here there are no erroneous polls about such things like which site is "friendlier".

I give any new site the benefit of the doubt.  Every forum is not for everyone.  Some have a different "feel".  Simviation is friendly, and the forums here have a definite "flavor" different to say the Avsim or Flightsim.com (or others).  Sure, I have to admit that the weird humor of some of its members tend to overshadow the otherwise saner members, but after a while, a place becomes "comfortable" - or not.

hey Savas, why did you erase my text ?!?!? Did I ask you to do that ? No! why would you do that! How is it fair?!

Why would you take it away are you being racist against me for being Canadian. What has the world come to that a Canadian can't even post an explanation about a link anymore ? What do you think Nelson Mandela went under torture for ?  For acceptance of all cultures! Just bhecause I'm a Canadian you have to take away my rights to add an explanation to my text !

I've been a member here at Simv for about 3 month's, and I can't say that I have been treated badly here. But I also received an invitation from The Top Gun and I had a look at his friends site and I think it looks pretty good even though they only just started. I'm thinking of becoming a member there because I think that a new forum like that needs some support from their bigger brothers and atleast give the good example.

I really don't agree with what has been said, I find that in a very short time a lot of work has been done there. I don't know how Simv started out in the beginning, but I'm very sure that also Simv started out small, just like Top Gun's friend forum is right now. shouldn't we be more supportive of our small friends (not rivals). That's what I had to say about this issue.

I can tell you all that when I set up my own forums recently, it was most certainly NOT just to play at being admin. I was intended to be, and is, an extension of my site, to allow visitors, and those of a similar interest within FS (namely repainting) to discus, and show their work to others of a similar interest. Are you trying to say that NO ONE else should set up their own forum? I know Simv is good, but you can't make it the only forum going you know!

No offense, but perhaps establish a reputation for yourself before advertising your forum and seeming to siphon users off to your own site.

I am but 18, and I've already released over 50 repaints, many of which were exculsive to simviation.com. Whenever (and often wherever) I post screenshots of my new work I get good feedback, that often allows me to improve my work. I also get comments such as "You always make great repaints" so I dont think I have anything to fear over my reputation as a repainter. And i'm not trying to take users away from this site, after all I'm still here arn't I!?

There is absolutely no way my site can even be considered a rival to the Simv, and it was never intened as one. Its got less than 10 members so far, but those include 2 other repainters, and those, including myself, that also frequent other forums, including simviation.com's. I havnt tried to offer an umbrealla forum that covers all topics going, but a more compact forum dedicated to repainters and their work. I always appreciate offers of support with anything I do, as i offer them myself, and welcome new members with open arms. You'll always get a few 'odd' members or posts, but thats people, you cant just ignore them, or the forums they visit, or we'd all just sit here not talking to anyone!
