"20" Years .... Today

Postby aerofoto » Mon Apr 06, 2020 11:08 pm

It's HJG's birthday today :)

Today .... 14 years ago .... on April 6th 2006 .... the new/current HJG went online .... although the original HJG group was founded during 2000 and has been run continuously since then and which now see's us having provided 20 years of service to the FS community.

What transpired to threaten HJG's existence back in 2006 was a European business collapse and the consequential loss of a server .... resulting in HJG then seeking a new home, voluntary retirement of all but 3 of its original group members, and an entirely new development and administration team being tasked with the representation of HJG .... and which has continued until this day.

When we rescued the original HJG from the edge of the abyss back in early 2006 (it was about to disappear forever) our prime intention was simply to try'n ensure that the groups extensive FS resource remained online/available for all whom wished to partake of it .... and for as long as possible .... and to also try'n improve what we could of it all along the way too .... BUT LITTLE ELSE .... only we never actually contemplated what's happened since.

Prior to 2006 HJG's simulations were represented by 6 aircraft lines only .... the B367-80, B707/720, C-135 SERIES, CV-880, CV-990, and DC-8 .... along with a few panels, sound packs, and effects files for these ....

.... BUT .... due to purely unanticipated opportunities, and other motivations, what's developed is our now greatly expanded flight line which has since taken up residence at HJG .... in the form of BAe 146/ARJ, B717-200, B727, B737, CARAVELLE, CONCORDE, DC-9, DC-10, L-1011, MD-80/-90, and MERCURE 100 simulations ....

.... not to mention the associated and "considerable expansion and improvement" of our panel, sound, and effects resources for each of the simulations we now current offer .... BUT AGAIN .... this's all something we neither anticipated nor originally set out to do.

It's not been easy (in fact it's had its moments) .... and in all honestly I suppose that if we'd known beforehand what we were about to get ourselves into sometimes then we'd likely have thought twice about bothering to do so at all, but then again, it's been as "INTERESTING" as it's also been "CHALLENGING" .... and even "REWARDING" sometimes too :D .... especially given the satisfaction some of us feel when we see folk continuing to enjoy "the fruits of our labours" and which does tend to make the struggles, and frustrations, encountered along the way all seem worth having been endured.

SO THEN .... here we are .... 20 years later .... still going .... and still trying to do the best we can "with the resources at our disposal" .... all thanks to each of our team members (both past and present) .... and whilst also not forgetting our host Pete DALY/SIMVIATION.COM whom has kindly supported HJG throughout the past 14 years of our own tenure .... along with significant and much appreciated community support encouragement as well.

"HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY HJG" .... and "THANKS" everyone for your support and encouragement over the years that's helped us all make it happen for everyone's "FREE" FS enjoyment too ;)
