James,
Congrats on getting a new forum up and online. Starting out on a new project is usually a long and involved process, but it is always started with that first "step". And the first step is always the most difficult to take. You did that...... "yay" you. In the process of trying this out, you will learn a lot, and that is very important too.
Likely it will take time and perserverence to get the forum off the ground. While you certainly can't just "spam" any other forums with "ads"..... take every opportunity to think up ways to subtly get "the message" out there.
Maybe as another way of publicizing that your site exists you could plan out some multiplayer online flights of the RAF bases you mention for the SimV server? Work up some interesting flights, and set up a time that does not conflict with the other "tours"... and that the audience can attend (will ther most interest be from UK flywers?)..... and then "push" it on the multiplayer forum.
Anyway....... good luck with the venture.
best,
......................john
