What's flying overhead? Find out for free

The best way to describe this website is to visit it. flightradar24

If that link reports problems. it may be because flights that were being tracked are no longer there. Just exit the warnings.

Essentially, you can identify a plane flying overhead, tell what kind of plane it is, where it came from, and where it's going. And that's just for starts. :D

These shots are from my real home near Philadelphia, Pa. I'd be interested if it works outside the US.

Play around with it. It has a "3D" satellite map to follow a selected aircraft. They warn that it may cause problems, but I had no problems at all.

One last note - It works for free on a computer, but you have to pay to have it work on a tablet.

Hope you enjoy it.

Great site, my neighbour put me on to it a while back. What scares me is when you zoom out and see all the planes flying around the world. And that's just the commercial aircraft add in the light and private stuff, the military and that is one hell of a lot of flying machines defying gravity. :o The Air Traffic Control people do a fantastic job.

Cheers

Thanks OAM! I like this site better than FlightAware.

An Aircraft Mechanic only needs two tools, Duct Tape and WD40.
If it moves and it's not supposed to - use the Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and it's supposed to - use the WD40.

I've saw this site about a year ago, saved a link, and then forgot all about it.

Until today. Today, I heard several large jets flying somewhat low overhead, and decided to see what's up. They were gone by the time that I re-found the site.

It's amazing what's available on the internet. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good.

Been using this app for a long time. Fun when you're out and about and see a 747 gliding in for approach. Nice to see where it's been.

Works great in my location too. I've been using it for a couple of years now. It's worth paying for, especially when you don't have a lot of air traffic nearby, then all of a sudden you can see a huge con trail. Takes your mind of fishing sometimes. <<v
