I recently was fine tuning fsx to give me the most realistic experience. Long story short, this site
http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html fixed my fsx config and now I can run fsx on maxed out settings with REX Overdrive, Scenery tech scenery and FS Genesis mesh and it gave me 50-90 frames. I used to get 40 at most.
Anyways, check this site out and follow the instructions

Hi Knick,
I was just about to try it out yesterday but after reading about it, it seems a lot of people got increased fps, BUT, their graphics quality went down.
Did your graphics setting go down? Can you tell me what the major changes were other than increased fps? Are you using an external FPS limiter?
So far my cfg is default. The only thing I added was V-Sync.

Personally, after running my FSX.cfg through it, not only did my FPS increase (about 10-15), but a noticeable increase in graphics (textures looked sharper and everything in general look "realer" - if that make any sense).

This should be pinned / stickied to the top of the FSX forum IMHO.

Ok, I decided to give it a shot. It basically added a bunch of new stuff to my cfg.
First impression is WOW

fps shot up by about 10-15fps. I just did a quick take off from CYYZ and KJFK and it seems so much smoother. Oh man, big props to Jesus for helping FS fans.
Now I plan to try it with v-sync off. Didn't know it affects performance. I've been using it for a long time. If image tearing is not too bad, I'll leave it off.
Now, it did tell me to use an external fps limiter @30fps. Gonna have to try that too.
And I thought my default cfg settings were fine lol. THANKS guys

I have downloaded the new cfg file to try I take it that I replace the original with this (saving a copy first of course)
Can some one tell me where I find my FSX CFG file I have looked in the FSX files and can not find it ?
I presume it is hidden ?
I am using W7 64 bit

Thanks very much I have found the file and replaced the cfg with the new one.
I can not say I have found any difference at present, but my computer is fairly high spec. anyway
I have also downloaded the external frame limiter (RAR file) but I do not really know what this is or where it goes
If some one can give me the info. thanks.

I downloaded the fps limiter but when I run it I get a dos window for about a split second then it closes. I ran it, then ran fsx. Then to see if it did anything I shut down, and just ran fsx. I didn't notice an increase in frames from the fps limiter.
