ah, tis an amazing sound is it not? :-)
beautiful shots, and wonderful memories..:-)
THough I would much prefer the sound of the B-17 that usually comes every year to the local arshow..;-)
They give rides over the course of 3 days and typically fly right over the house, and I mean just over the huse..:-)

Last time i was down here (during the last BA show of the season) a B25 made repeated passes up and down the beach, an absolutley amazing sound!

awesome!
Speaking of wonderful alarm clocks... where I live there is ALWAYS an airplane flying over... whether it's a Cessna, or a Boeing or even the occasional military aircraft... I don't think there isn't a minute (literally) that goes by without being able to hear at least one kind of aircraft...
But, this one day, while I was half awake... I noticed a very unusual pitch coming from outside. It was different from the usual twin engine sound... and looked out my window, just in time to see something I'd never foreget.... a formation with a B-29 in lead with two B-17's on either wing! WOW, was that a great way to wake up!

Wow now that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up just thinking about that! :-) Those old bombers are really a sight and sound to behold! :-)

Yeah they are! Man, certainly something I'll never forget! Such a unique sound too... just awesome. As much as I love the sound of jets... nothing matches the rumble of 12 radial engines.

Amen..:-)
I especially love the sound of the wright cyclone 18-cyl. radial engine on the B-29 that I saw two years ago..:-)
And to stand behind it and smell the exhaust and "wind" as they fired all four engines, well it almost brought a tear to me eye..:-)
