Silent flight in CFS2

Postby Chris Cosgrove » Sun Dec 04, 2011 9:23 am

After I corrupted my boot sector three months ago, and a complete system re-install, I have come up with what seems a novel problem in CFS2, at least a search of the forums doesn't give any relevant hits.

Computer :- 64 bit Win7, 4 Gb RAM, ASUS Xonar D1 sound card, nVidia GeForce 9500 GT video card.

Yesterday I went to fly a Beaufighter in freeflight just for fun - and in total silence ! No engine noise, no gun noise, no sound at all. OK, this is an add-on, I've screwed up the installation. Stock P38 off an English airbase - flies beautifully, instruments work, guns work, control surfaces work, no sound. Back to basics, the default CFS2 flight, an F4F out of Henderson Field. Exactly the same, flies beautifully, no sound.

Yet in the settings panel moving over the switches gives that lovely mechanical switch click sound. I have a copy of the JustFlight 'Mosquito Squadron' add-on installed. Mosquitos fly with sound when I run it.

Further, the sound is working normally in FSX, FS 2004 and MSTS.

Anybody got any ideas short of a complete re-install ?

Regards,

Chris Cosgrove   :-?

Check the CFS2 sound options to see it the mute button is on. If that's not the problem I don't know what might be causing it. Try starting CFS2 in compatibility mode or something...

I don't know in CFS2 but in all other sims you can either press "Q" during the flight or check the sound options.
