CFS2 Crashes during loading

Haven't used CFS2 for some time and had no issues with it in the past. But today, when I inserted the activation disc, it started with the Japanese & US planes scene, announced "please wait - loading" but then crashed to the desktop. I've uninstalled the program and re-installed it but get the same result. Does anyone know what the problem may be?

Jim,
There are a number of things that might cause this to happen....one of which is an aircraft whose sound is aliased to an aircraft that is not installed.
A couple of questions:
- Is this a totally stock CFS2 install?
- Have you tried using the 'No CD' file posted in CFS2/Misc on page 2?
Hopefully, the rest of our resident experts will chime in as well. Let us know.

Totally stock. I've never added anything to the program. It is as it was when it came from the box.
I don't know anything about the "No CD" you mentioned, so I'll look into that. Thanks.

OK now. I installed the "No CD" file and that lets me into the program. Tks for the info Tango Romeo.

Glad you got it sorted out.
Sounds like you have a bad CD. Since CFS2 is a freestanding installation on your computer without any registry entries, you might want to make a backup copy of the Microsoft Games/Combat Flight Simulator 2 folder, in case your current installation ever becomes corrupted. 8-)
