Mauro G's US_Pilot

Hi All,
Ok, I tried for about an hour to get the US_Pilot to work in the FM-2.  I followed all the readme's and other installations and still couldn't get it work.  So, I'll upload the skin package and leave the modifications to someone who knows what they're doing.
Thanks,
Bub

I just figured I would give it a shot.  But, after an hour I saw I wasn't getting anywhere.  Must be missing something.
Anyway,
Bub

Thanks Nole,
I appreciate your attention.  There are those out there that do know how.  The problem, is that they're busy with projects of their own and I hate to ask for something this trivial when they're busy doing their own stuff which is more important.  Someome will get around to it when they have time and it will be greatly appreciated.  It's a small detail but will make the FM-2 that much better.

I can't find Mauro's US pilot so I tried MW's RAF pilot instead. He works fine but unfortunately conflicts with the original. Not really worth doing unless someone can find a way to make him invisible.

Sully suggested this solution in an earlier post in the first thread, but I don't even know what a 'mask' is:

[b]Bub, haven't checked it out yet, but if there is a texture for the pilot, you can place a mask over it and he disappears.

Is there a SCASM editor in the house?  ::)

Thanks for trying, Hagar.  Its nice of you to take the time.
I don't know if this means anything, if you run the aircraft through ACM to get the UV_Maps, it shows two pilot textures, us_pilot_1 and us_pilot_2, which are not part of the aircraft download.  I'm not sure what this means.  The only other "texture" is part of the fuselage, wildcat_t, texture.  As Gramps no longer has the source file we may never know.
Thanks again,
Bub

Fixed it! ;)

Find us_pilot_1.bmp and us_pilot_2.bmp in the CFS2\Texture folder. Take a copy of both files & paste them into the Texture folder of the Wildcat. Then open the copies in DXTBmp & change the Alpha Channel to black. (Alpha > Invert Alpha) 'Save As' in Extended 555-1 format. (CFS2 reads textures in the aircraft Texture folder before the main Texture directory.)

That's fine Bub. You can have a go at the DP yourself. I found Mauro's British pilot which I suspect is simply the US pilot repainted. Here's my modified DP entries.

First add this extra mount under [HARDPOINTS]

mount.19=-0.03,0.23,-1.01

This is the first payload entry. (He will need adding to each Payload.) Note this is for Mauro's British Pilot. Change the name accordingly.

[PAYLOAD.0]
; Payload = Guns Only
mount.19=BRI_pilot, 1, 0

Don't forget to delete the CDP file before trying it in CFS2. Good Luck!

[edit]I found Mauro's US pilot. Here's the correct Payload entry.

[PAYLOAD.0]
; Payload = Guns Only
mount.19=US_pilot, 1, 0[/edit]

Hagar,
It worked like a charm!
