Attacking w/ wingmen

Does anyone know if there is a way to get wingmen to follow you through an attack, but actually fire and not just stay on your wing while you fire?

For example, if I want to attack a ship, I can just make an attack run and my wingman will follow me but not fire.

It depends on the intelligence of the AI pilot. It seems the AI pilots got better the longer they live, in campaigns anyway.

Not ever having the Mosquito, I don't know exactly what you mean about the gunsight. I've had luck drawing my own gunsights with Irfanview, MS Paint, and Paint Shop Pro. The frames are easy enough. The glass takes practice, but isn't really difficult if you have any talent and ubderstand shading and depth. Just remember to save in .BMP format.

Once I create the sight how do I get it in my plane?

The way I do it is to first make a copy of the panel file. This is a little protection in case something screws up. I then open the copied file in any .bmp compatible drawing program and draw the sight onto the panel and save when satisfied. Name the file the same as the original. Move the original to safe place and replace it with new one. Run CFS and see if it works. If you aren't satisfied the original still exists to replace the new panel.

Maybe I should have been more clear.

Oooooo, I see. I'm sure it can be done, but will require editing the panel.cfg file. It seems feasable that the bombsight file could replace the normal look down view. It's been a while since I edited the panel.cfg. I remember it not being hard, just a lot of trial and error. I strongly advise experimenting on a copy of the panel.cfg and keeping the original in a safe place.
The link you provided seems unlikely to be of use in your situation. It states "the bombsight must be specifically set up for an aircraft model. It is not "Plug and Play" to just any model in your hangar. It is also experimental.
I am now downloading a B-29 panel w/bombsight from the FS98 section. Hopefully it will show what editing needs to be done.

I just spotted this. My Fox Four colleague Mike Eustace has been working on a panel including a level bombing bombsight for a forthcoming new campaign in the CFS2 Korea series. By all accounts it works extremely well. If you can wait a little longer you could use that.

PS.
Let's say I want to see the bombsight (or a big red cross, to keep things simple)

You could always use the old CFS2.cfg cheat for now.

This is switchable with Cfo Weather installed.

I looked in a few panel config files, and I think I kind of see how things work, but I'm not sure how to set it.  So let me how that B-29 works out!

Intersting.

Basically, you add another window to the panel.cfg. Normally the .cfg will have window00=(panel filename). You would add window01=(2nd panel filename) below the 1st window entry. You would then add the parameters for panel #2 below those for panel #1. Any guages can be added also.
There's a Panel Making & Editing utility out there. I've used it and works well, the name escapes me though. I believe I found it in the Simviation utililities area. Maybe Doug(aka Hagar, aka Grumpy) will know what I'm refering too.
The B-29 sight is for altitudes from 5,000ft. - 15,000ft. I don't know what speed though.
I'd forgoten about the CFS2 bomb cheat, never used it. Wish I had Doug's memory.  8-)

Cfo Weather is a great utility if only for the bomb 'cheat'. In practical terms it's a CCIP (continuous calculation of impact point) like in modern jet's ground attack function. It is therefore independant of altitude and speed. In a WW2 bomber the bombardier usually controlled the a/c in the run up to target, but his sights could be adjusted to exact altitude and speed. The bomb 'cheat' is a superfast bombardier! I have found it by far the easiest sight to use in level bombing ops. Hits are not guaranteed, though, but they do get close!
One thing I have run up against with panels are a/c made prior to FS2000 which have a virtual cockpit. Any time I try to add a new panel I either get nothing or I get the new panel AND the VC showing together which kinda defeats the purpose. As the VC is a part of the model in those cases there is no section of the panel.cfg to bypass it. Does anyone know of a way to add a pop-up panel in the forward view (like the throttle panel) that will show me a view to the rear?

I looked in the panel cfg file and i think I have the general idea of what to do.  But what if I want the second window to be looking forward at a 45 degree angle?  I'm sorry if I sound like I'm trying to get everyone to do the work for me, but I'm pretty new at this and I don't have a ton of time to work on this sort of thing.

Also, I looked for panel editors and couldn't find anything for free.

And...I found a panel I'm happy with but it covers the tactical display and any messages displayed.  Is there a way to change this?

Well, given the amount of time I have to spend on this, I'll wait if someone else is working on something.

But...who's mike?
