Dp editor

Ive just gotten dp editor installed on my machine, and I cant figure out how to add payloads or bomb racks onto new aircraft that I imported into cfs2.  I can get the weapons to show up in the plane selection screen, but When I start flying, they dont show up on my plane.  I can select the weapons normally as if they are there, but I cant drop them or anything.

If you can see the wireframe these will be early AF99 or FSDS1 models. Try running the MDL file through the MDL Converter tool. http://www.microsoft.com/games/combatfs2/articles_SDK_mdlconverter.asp

Leave it on the default setting. Don't use the Optimize Graphics option.

Alright, I'll try that as soon as I get home.

[off topic but...]
I had another question in the cfs development forum about the mission builder.  I just imported a crapload of planes into the game.  Some of them had their new weapons addons.  Until recently, I was unable to put the weapons in cfs2, so I only had the aircraft, but I was able to build missions with them.  But after I put the weapons in the game, I get an error message that says i need to reinstall the product.  I have done that several times, and it still wont work.  I also get a similar message when i start up free flight or quick combat.  but if I just click FLY NOW a second time it will work.

Jug_Jockey your problem is a very common problem that most of us have encounter. You just have to many planes in your Hangar.

Better said you can only have install or at any one time in the Aircraft folder no more than 95 to 100planes.

Yes you can install more than 100 planes in your program but in different Hangars.

As for weapons. When ever you install new weapons you have to remember to go the your aircraft the weapon where intended for and go inside the the aircraft folder and look for a file call CDP and delete it before flying with the aircraft. Do not worry this file will be replicated automatically by the program.

As for Hangar and flying with more than One hundred plane. You can always install this little but important program that will allow you to able to fly with more than hundred plane in different Hangars.

Its call ACman and through it you will able to have up to eigthteen Hangars per install CFS2. Just remember you need the Stock planes for you to be able to activate each new Hangar.

Now you will be able to have up to Eighty new planes per new Hangar.

The MDL Converter worked on some of the planes, but it wont work on my cfs 1 aircraft.  And on the planes It did work, The bomb just dissapears without dropping.  I also cant figure out how to select another type of ordinance.  If I am carrying a payload of bombs and rockets, I am only able to select the bomb.

It's a long time since I did any of this but it sounds to me that you didn't define the gunstations properly. I suggest you download MW's weapons library & read the instructions. http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/cfs2/weapons.htm

Which aircraft are you having problems with? The MDL Converter should work for most 3rd party aircraft for FS98 & CFS1. (I'm not sure about the few that were created with AD2000.) It won't work on the CFS1 defaults but that shouldn't be necessary.

PS. External weapons won't display in CFS1.

Ive moved my cfs 1 aircraft to cfs 2, and wanted to convert them so I could add payloads to them.
Whenever I try to convert the stock aircraft to cfs 2 standard, i get an error message.

These are the CFS1 defaults converted to display in CFS2. Not sure if this is what you want.

Mdlpatchw was developed by Bill Potvin as a quick & dirty fix to convert 3rd party aircraft created with AF99/FSDS1 to display external weapons in CFS2. It worked well enough but he was never happy with it. He withdrew it after Microsoft released the MDL Converter tool & it hasn't been posted on his own website for years. Neither utility willl work on the CFS1 defaults.

PS. This is the CFS1 default P51d (from the Allied package from my previous link) in CFS2. It's ready to go with a DP file & doesn't need converting to carry external weapons.

Does anyone else think the bombs and tanks look too close together, or is it just me?
