AAA effectiveness

OK, ground attack is known to be a sporty proposition but, if the gunners really were as accurate as the Japanese are in CFS2, real casualty rates would have been a heck of a lot higher than they were.       Is there any way to reduce the effectiveness of the AAA?     I'm getting fed up with being shredded.

also the stock damage effects are quite large, even the 25mm has an effect like a german "88" I ended up changing the .dp myself, the flak effects arent as large but when they do hit ya, you feel it :o

The thing I dislike the most about the flak is that when it hits you it practically turns your aircraft around, which is a big nuiscance while trying to divebomb. I'm not sure if that's historically accurate or not but I hate it.

Guys there is a fix right here that reduces the damage hole sizes of the AAA. There is also

Thanks all for your replies.      It's not so much the size of the holes that bothers me - it's the fact that the INTENSITY and ACCURACY of the AAA makes quite a few of the missions virtually unflyable - even with a weaving, altitude changing, run-in and a 'balls to the wall' overfly.

RAFAIR100 their are two upgrades that may help you.

Here is one its call roll damage Fix:http://www.netwings.org/library/Microsoft%5FCFS2/Misc/index-2.html

The other is call Flank fix:http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&FileType=cfs2-other&page=downloads&ammm=15&pap=10

I do not know if its available some where else.
You have be a member of Sim-outhouse to be able to down load it.

Its one of the best Webs site in our hooby but they only allow members to down load.

Unfortunualy for us and our hooby in General.

yes Corsair Freak i have noticed that too, your in a vertical dive and then your hit and at a 45 degree angle, unless those sneaky japs are firing 16 inchers as flak i dont believe it is correct.

As for the dp fix i mentioned, they shoot just as much, but MOST of it misses, sometimes its kinda funny chasing a zero over its bases and the flak shoots in front of me and hits the zero, (more CFS2 quirks ;))

Falcon have you tried the roll fix upgrade. Maybe that will help. As for the Zero been hit. I find that realistic. Its nice to see the AAA some times to make mistakes. Its call being hit by friendly fire.

You know what guys. What really bothers me is how accurate the Bomber gunners are in this game and in most other sims.

Some misions are impossible to shoot down a Bomber with out getting hit and shot to pieces.

Is it me or those it bother you guys as well.

James007  Boy, have you hit the nail on the head !     Anytime you go after a bomber from the rear quarter, you're due to be blown away.       OK, I can live with that if you're going after a B-17 formation - but a single Ju-87 !!!.       It really goes back to my original point that the effectiveness of the gunners (air or ground based) has been set at too high a level.

More than justification for high-sided attacks then, I would have thought... ;)

Read the account of Butch O'Hare's exploits with the 8 Bettys attacking his carrier group in 1942 - he destroyed or seriously damaged 5 of them pretty much single-handedly using classic high-sided attack tactics. In a Wildcat!

I strongly recommend The First Team: Pacific Naval Combat from Pearl Harbour to Midway for more on this and many other aspects of the airwar in the PTO.

Padser thank you for your advice. I will read your suggested post.

As for fixing AAA on ships. The only way I think you can do that is by opening your Mission Builder. Go the mission you want to fix. Scroll through the the enemy Ships and change their designated experience decription. In other words change it from Ace to Rockie. The only thing this description is for is to manipulate their AAA accruracy.

I hope this will help you Guys

Padser you can do the same with the Bomber as with Ships. Its the only simple solution that I find that remedies this problem some what.

The other is to go in the DP folder inside the planes main folder and change the Guns coordinates number. Thats for Falcon or others who know more how to mingle with this things.
