CFS1 will run on almost any machine which can handle Win98. I still have it installed and also run CFS2 and FS2002. For some obscure reason FS2004 will not run.

Still a great game for its age, somewhat limited in high detailed models, but still OK.

I can run CFS2 on:

1.2ghz Intel Celeron
256 MB Ram
32mb Intel 82815 Graphics controller

and I get a steady 20-30 frames. I can run CFS1 on maxed out settings and get 60+ frames. and yes, you can have both installed at the same time and not have a problem.

Good Hunting,
Brandon

EDIT - Hey merlin, how's the floatin' Spit comin' along?

As Merlin66 and Corsair Freak have both indicated. Both formats will run on the same computer. I personally prefer the less space consuming CFS1 but, as mentioned, it is limited to the 256 color format, thus limiting its graphics (seams of "add-ons" may not be as detalied, depending). However, many CFS1 planes should work in CFS2 (I've edited CFS2 planes for CFS1, as well, refitting .air, texture and model files) and I should be uploading my WW1 mini-campaign very soon (Armistice Day is November 11).

Have a good flight and watch your six...

CFS1 and CFS2 are both good Simulator. Take my word for it. They are base on two different a Theater of war thus if you fly in both games you would get a better feel of what it was like to fly in World war two in both Theaters.

CFS2 has better graphics and better planes models but that alone does make it a better Simulator.

CFS1 is smother and less complicated than CFS2 and a lot of fun to fly.

If you want to improve your simulator and see it increase in quality and experience through your program buy CFS2.

If you want to just have fun flying and fighting Buy CFS1. I have then both and I enjoy them both.

PS you can add missions and Campings of the Pacific Theater to CFS1 and European Theaters missions
