Night Textures

'Lo!

I've got a bit of a problem with my CFS2 - spotty use of nighttime textures.

It doesn't happen with the terrain; but anything else - from aircraft to buildings - appear with night skins - dull grey and black.
Makes flying a pain, let me tell you. :D
Anyone know of a fix?

Thanks!

Hey Staiduk,

Sounds like your problem might be Graphics Card related... Could you post a screenshot?

Do a test... Take the aircraft your having problems with and see if the textures are compressed in DXT. Using DXTBmp or Imagetool, convert the textures into 8 Bit or 16 Bit 565 and see if that doesn't solve the problem.

Stratobat

Thanks, SB; I'll look into it. The trouble is that all non-terrain textures are nighttime tex's - all those with night skins, that is. :) Planes, hangars, ships, etc. LOL - ever tried landing a Hellcat on a moving black slab? ;D

In the case of carriers, I can get a very brief respite from the darkness by turning the lights on in my aircraft before taxiing - it causes the carrier deck to go from 'night' to 'day' briefly.

I have PacTex installed; but I'm pretty sure that's not the source of the problem. :)

Is T&L checked on in the CFS2 settings?? i know that it can cause some wierd things. I get rainbow effects and turning T&L on or off fixes it.
