F4U-7 keeps crashing in Quick Combat

Postby Jehovah_of_Jive » Sat Feb 12, 2005 2:11 pm

I greet.

Having downloaded Guy Hulin/A F Scrub's  F4U-7 French, I was a) delighted with it's visual appearance (dynamic shine) and performance in Free Flight.

However, it keeps crashing CFS2 to desktop whenever I try it in Quick Combat.

Anyone else had this happen? Know of a fix? Know of a Corsair that has dynamic shine (I'd really like a Korean War era F4U-4 or -5, most are dull matt, unlike the real item...

Is it a CFS2 model? That could be the source of your problems...

It's a CFS2 model which I'm flying in CFS2.

Flies like a dream in Free Flight, but crashes to desktop in Quick Combat - knackering the entire operating system and requiring a re-boot.

As I say - a real shame, as both the AU-1 and the F4U-7 are extremely well done.

Where did you get these aircraft? The main difference with Free Flight & QC is your AI wingmen. I've come across Gmax aircraft supposedly for CFS2 before that didn't work in AI for some reason. You could try them without wingmen & see what happens.

help is on the way. Yes their is a way to reinstall CFS2 without losing all your previous updates. Just insert CFS2 first Disk and tell it to install.

Hagar - no wingman and it works like a dream. Many thanks for your advice.

BTW - 'Where did you get these aircraft?' - from this here website - www.simviation.com/cfs2aircraft91.htm

Worth downloading.

That would explain it then. I assume this is an FS9 aircraft converted to work in CFS2. It will work in Free Flight but is obviously not fully compatible. This is copied from the file description on the download page.
