CFS1 aircraft in FS2002

After installing over 400 different types of aircraft in FS2002, the CFS1 types gave me a surprise. The mdl did not work and the aircraft had no visual image from the outside views. The cockpit was OK. The plane flew OK. Anyone else try this with same results????

The CFS1 default aircraft are not compatible with CFS2. I haven't tried it but I assume the same goes for FS2002. If you really want to use them try the updated versions posted here. (Expansion packs by C. A. Simpson.) http://www.simviation.com/cfs2aircraft1.htm

Most 3rd party aircraft designed specifically for CFS2/FS2002 are far better quality, especially the later FSDS2 & Gmax models.

Sorry I took so long---I have used CFS1 aircraft in CFS2 for a year---they work fine. I don't use CFS1 aircraft in FS2002--just did it for an experiment. They work OK--just are invisible.???? Confusing.  Thanks for the reply. It is no big deal. Just curious. Never had an aircraft do that before.

There's a file around here somewhere (Seems like its in the CFS2 Misc. section) that fixes the problem with CFS1 a/c being invisible in FS2002

Hi Tiger. The files I mentioned will fix the transparent models. This problem only affects the CFS1 defaults in CFS2. 3rd party FS98/CFS1 aircraft should work fine. I never saw the point as much better quality 3rd party examples are available for most of them now. These are proper CFS2 aircraft with all the bells & whistles. You can also get most of the European Theatre types not included in CFS1.

PS. If you use WinXP you might get the odd conflict with a 3rd party aircraft & the OS. This can be fixed by patching the MDL file of the offending aircraft with the MDL Repair Utility. Check out my CFS2 FAQ page. http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2faq.htm
