editing aircraft in Campaigns

Does anybody know of an editing programme for Campaign/mission MIS files? One that would locate the aircraft selection bit..... ie

"[unit_type.3]
type_id=3903
unit_family=4
name=simTECH_ SPITMK9_RAF"

in this case the spitfire.."simTECH_ SPITMK9_RAF" for example, and allow one to change the aircraft title for another... but, and this is the magic bit.. en mass!  I'm sure I'm not the only one fed up with editing each file individually. I've tried searches for this, but there's too many coincidences with the in game CFS2 general Mission/Campaign editing/making programme.

Have you tried using the "search" facility in your text editing program that you are using? Some have options that will allow you to type in the word/name you want to find and change it to something else. ;)

Thanks for reply,
yes, thats my current method, but using the W2000 search tool you have to do them individually. If you are changing all the planes in a campaign, can be 100's of extremely monotonous alterations. Took about 3 hours to convert 'Sabre v Mig' to a Luft 46 campaign in aircraft retitling alone!
I was after something a bit quicker.

I'm using win98SE and Wordpad.

Try this-

1  copy and paste the mission files to another folder.

2  select one of the pasted mission files and open it with Wordpad.

3  Go to Edit and select all.

4  Go to Edit and select replace.

5  Type in the name of the aircraft already there in the top box.

6  Type in the name of the aircraft you want to be used in the lower box.

7  Tick "Match whole word only".

8  Click the button "Replace All" (third one down on the right).

That should do yer, repeat for each different type of aircraft. Backup the old mission file and replace with the one you just altered.

You could try Keith Bedford's ChMissAc utility. http://www.freenetpages.co.uk/hp/keith.bedford/cfs/cfs2.htm

I remember trying it years ago on CFS1 missions. I could never get it to work & prefer editing the individual missions manually.

Thats interesting!  Didn't know you could do that..!
I just tried it and it works great. Thanks. I was doing a  longer cut n paste variety.
What would be perfect though, is something that edits for example every "spitfireMk1_Sqdrn_56_blah_blah" entry in EVERY MIS file all at once!
The W2000  "search for text" in folder... SEARCH option will find all the folders with that particular spitfire entry in, I was just wondering if a programme that 'Finds text' has a 'Replace text' equivalent?
It'd be dead handy cos I've changed me mind 3 times this morning which Spit I like best too!!

hmm..... perhaps even a nice shiny Mustang instead...

ChMissAc is supposed to do exactly that. ;)

It doesn't work straight off, like you said, there's a dll file missing, [vbrun300] but its downloadable from loads of sites.. eg
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/pop.shtml?vbrun300.

Works a treat,
