Folks:
I have downloaded the Milne Bay Campaign along with all the bells and whistles, including the most recent release of the Lockheed Hudson for CFS2. However, I have yet to get past the first mission; I followed the P-40E AI conversion instructions to the letter (at least I think I did; can't find any obvious problems), but when I try to fly, I get the error message: "can't find model P-40e RAAF AI in the library.
Help!!

Sounds like your folder name for that plane isn't spelled the way the mission file is looking for.
Open up your error.log in your main CFS2 folder with notepad and read what it says. Probably "unable to initialize ......"
if that's what it is, just crack open the mission file in question with notepad and scroll down toward the bottom of the file. You will find some sections that look like this:
[unit_type.0]
type_id=3810
unit_family=2
name=C47_DAKOTA ***This references the folder name
Just change name= to the name of the aircraft folder in your aircraft directory.
You could always just change the folder name as well, but that can create problems down the road with other missions. It's better to do it in the mission file.
Or you may just have a bad alias in your panel or sound cfg's. Open them up with notepad to make sure your alias's are correct first.
P.S. This was taken from a random mission file, as I don't have the mission in question.

Hi Poppa_J. It's been a while. I haven't tried this particular campaign. Yours is a common problem when the campaign relies on separate downloads of 3rd party aircraft. I'll add a few comments to what Franz suggested.
For the P-40 AI conversion check it out in Free Flight first to make sure it's installed correctly. (Change the Aircraft Type in the AIR file to 0 if necessary.) If it doesn't show up on the menu you found the problem. It must have Panel & Sound subfolders even if they're empty. Aircraft are usually recognised in missions by their folder names but this is not always the case. Some are recognised by the title= name in Aircraft.cfg.

Thanks, guys:
I have tried changing the name in the cfg file, I've even gone so far as to delete the aircraft from the mission file, but still no luck; will try your other suggestions. I always look forward to new campaigns in CFS2, as well as CFS3, and have had very few problems. However, this one has, so far at least, got me stumped not to mention disappointed.

P.S. The KW P-40E V5 shows up in Free Flight, but the P-40e RAAF AI does not.

The first thing you need to do is to find the cause of the error. This is usually a 3rd party aircraft. Follow Franz's suggestion by checking out Error.log in Notepad. This will give you the mission name & the unit number of the aircraft that it can't find. Use this number to find the type_id in the mission file. For example:
[unit_type.0]
type_id=3838
unit_family=1
name=F4U1A_CORSAIR
This will tell you the aircraft that's causing the problem. In this case F4U1A_CORSAIR is (usually) the exact folder name. You might be looking at the wrong one.
PS. If the P-40e RAAF AI is an unflyable AI Only drone it won't show on the Free Flight menu unless you change the Aircraft Type in the AIR file from 2 to 0.
