???  I tried finding the link  to this site -http://www.sim-outhouse.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6198- but no luck. This was posted early this year, but seems dead.  Can someone steer me to this info? Sure would like some wakes, esp. with the DO-24's I have.  Thanks for any help!

G'Day,
   I believe SimOuthouse was attacked and had to be rebuilt - thus loosing much of the forum stuff.(but don't quote me on it)
  I'd be interested in the current thoughts on wakes in CFS2 myself  ...

  To my understanding CFS2 doesn't cater for his sort of effect by default.

  I have achieved some good results by editting the aircraft.cfg  and replacing the cockpit lighting with a wake FX.
eg from my current project
[LIGHTS]
panel=0.00, 0.10, 0.35, fx_vclight

changed to
[LIGHTS]
panel = 0,   -0.75,  -4, fx_wake

You can then toggle the wake effect by turning your "Landing lights" on or off.  (eg use L key)

(If you look around you can find a few modified FX files for wakes or tinker with your own...  see my tests  :D )

I think Greenghosts method is the only way possible in CFS2. I have seen attempts to add wakes but these follow the plane everywhere even when the aircraft has taken off. One way I might recommend is having the wake effect under the smoke command. This would leave you with your cockpit lights.

Greenghost, where did you get that Sunderland? And does it have a DVC? ;D

Yes indeed Woody,
That Sunderland looks the business, i want Coastal Command Aircraft for my euro CFS2, i've only got a Canadian Catalina at the moment plus Mosquito's.
is there a way of putting a take off strip anywhere on water for seaplanes in mission builder?

It shouldn't be any different to adding an airfield. I have at least one seaplane base in my CFS2 though I honestly cannot remember where it came from. Either here or Groundcrew most likely. But ask Hagar about adding airfields as I don't have a clue and it involves a bit too much effort for me. ;)

GreenGhost's way is the ONLY way so far anyone has been able to find. And I and some other CFS2 fanatics, some of which were much better than I, worked on it for quite awhile.

When I had my FSSC up and going, I had lots of great macros for creating water strips. Even did a few for some of the CFS2 squadrons on the ZONE.

Lost most of that stuff when I got this new machine. Burnt them to disc. but then they came up corrupted!!

I was a bit naughty using the Sunderland...
It is Stuart Green's FS2002 Sunderland http://www.domicilium.com/peveril/hangar/planes/sunderland.htm converted with MDLC (beta75) by Ivan Hsu.  This Converts fields within the MDL file to earlier types - enabling use of the MDL in CFS2. This works pretty well with this aircraft - though sometimes the image doesn't initialise and you get an invisible plane - switching planes usually gets it going..  Stuart's Web Site (Projects page) talks of a CFS2 version - so can't wait for the official version as this is an excellent looking aircraft with some nice animations!
(DVC? It does have a virtual cockpit with animated yoke - but no gauges - which may be a side effect of the "butchering" of the MDL. Never actually flown it in it's native FS2002 to see)
I have been developing this for my own use with the 1% Spreadsheets.... getting there slowly!
Seaplane airbases are possible... but so long since I set any up couldn't get any going on the weekend...  :-[ which was most frustrating!!
Which is a sidetrack of my current challenge - attempting to write a gauge that will auto switch the "Light" on/off based on altitude (and ground surface). Theorectically should be able to be done - all the info is available in the SDK ...  ( but would the gauge operate if the panel window is not active ? )

What a shame Stuart hasn't finished his CFS2 Sunderland.  :(

Hopefully when he does it will be to fully Multi-Res standard to help with fps.    ;)
