Couple of questions

Is there a way to open and close the canopy on CFS2 planes without bailing out? I could swear I used to be able to do it, but now I not only can't remember how, but there doesn't seem to be anything in the help index on it.
Also, when you get a new plane and it is billed as having moving parts (I have a B-17 with bomb bay doors that open) how do you know how to use the features the plane comes with?

Ditto I think its SHIFT E that opens the canopy (mind you I did reconfigure quite a few keys to match FS...), and in the readme file with the aircraft should be the information on features

It will depend on the age of the design. On early CFS2 aircraft any extra features like opening canopies & bomb doors are usually assigned to the spoiler key. Sliding canopies on WWII fighters sometimes open when full flap is selected. Later aircraft created with FSDS2 or Gmax will use the default key commands. The fact that CFS2 has 2 optional keyboard layouts makes this even more confusing.

Ditto,
In the default CFS2 keyboard layout, open canopy is shft-c.
The b!7 that I have (1% Avhistory) the bomb bay doors toggle with the 'open canopy' command.
I generally find it by trial and error if it is not in the readme, which it usuall is!
As Hagar said, the keys used are generally the spoiler key and canopy key. a number of planes especially the newer ones there are often buttons or switches on the 2d panel. Have a good hunt around with the mouse!
Enjoy

On the B-17 I have, I did check the readme and the bombbay doors do open and close with the "/" key.
On my older fighters, it doesn't look as though the canopy opens. I have a newer one where lowering the flaps opens the canopy and shift-E closes it.
By the way, I earlier opened the bomb bay doors by trial and error (and turned on the landing lights) and couldn't figure out how to undo either one!

For 3rd party aircraft moving parts move to what ever key the designer wishes or sees appropriate. Hence sometimes canopys open with the lowering of the gear, flaps, spoilers or by the default canopy keys.
So the ones to try for moving parts are /, D, shift+C, shift+H, shift+W and the gear and flap keys.

Hi ditto 58,
To open and close the canopy on the aircraft in cfs2
use Ctrl+E this will work on all stock cfs2 aircraft.
